Principal's Note
May 2005
Dear Parents,
I can’t believe that I am sitting here writing the last letter for the 2004-05 newsletter. The year has passed so quickly! What an exciting year this has been for the children and staff at Pecan Creek. We have enjoyed flying our Exemplary banner this year, and wait to see how the scores turn out this year with the rising accountability standards. Regardless of the TAKS scores, this year has been full of many successes. The staff and I have watched the students grow in confidence and achievement. Each grade level has worked hard to prepare the children for the next grade level. Our kindergartners who entered school looking around with big, unsure eyes are now reading, writing, and ready to go to first grade. Our fifth graders have grown up dramatically over the year and are leaving us well prepared for the big Middle School Adventure.
We couldn’t have done this year without the support and dedication of so many caring parents and grandparents. I appreciate the hours you have spent volunteering at the school, working at home, donating things to the classroom, and working with your child on homework during the evenings. Your smiling support has meant so much to all of us.
I know that you join me in offering a big thank-you to all of the staff members who have cared for your child this year. The building is blessed with a loving, dedicated, professional staff. I hope your child has gained as much from this year’s school experience as I have.
Have a restful summer! August is just around the corner!
Sincerely,
Aleta Atkinson
Pecan Creek Principal
