Mrs. Attaya's First Grade

TEAMWORK

We began the year with an Olympic theme through which we learned about Olmpic symbols and traditions. We emphasized ideas of teamwork, cheering others on, and being a champion. Sneak a Peek at our very special week.

The opening ceremonies: carrying our torches in a parade by class. We gathered at the flag pole to say the Pledge of Allegience and proceeded to the playground for informal races and competitions.

The mother of one of our classmates competed in the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. She ran in the 3000 meter race. She shared with us her Olympic experience and talked to us about what a champion is - one who tries his or her best. We try our best - we are all champions!

We held a few academic related contests in our classroom.

Do you think there is a future Olympian training on our playground? There are plenty of champions, practicing good teamwork and cheering others on as they try their best! Our Olympic dreams may become a reality some day!

We ended the week with an assembly during which we reviewed the attributes of a champion and aearded each first grader with a medal. Way to go, champs!
