Frog Studies

Page in progress - check back soon to see what is HOP-pening updated!

We are researching information about frogs.

Nonfiction books are a great source of information.

Ready for a lesson we won't soon FROG-get!

Modeling our newly created frog visors.

We talked about characteristics of different frog species and noticed that different kinds of frogs have differences in the color and shape of the pupil in their eyes.

We made the visors in preparation for an activity called Frog Food - what and how frogs eat.

Frog Food Experiment

We began the lesson by drawing frog food on sticky labels. We cut them apart, peeled off the backing and laid them sticky side up on the table.

These 2nd grade frogs look ready for a snack.

Children experienced frog eating behaviors during this fun Frog Food experiment.
Frogs must be quick and have good aim to catch insects, worms, spiders and other tasty frog treats.

Frogs have sticky tongues to help them catch their prey. We used party blowers and frog food drawn on sticky labels instead. (sticky party blowers do not unroll very easily :o)
