HATS
OFF to learning!
Our class
created hats in this integrated Math and
Economics investigation. First, we talked
about different kinds of hats and
identified people who wear hats. Then we
created a graph as we decided what color
to make our own hats.

We learned
to use a compass to make the round brim.
Then we used yarn to measure around our
head so that we could make sure the hat
fit.

These hat
brims fit perfectly thanks to some careful
measuring!

We were
working hard with rulers to make the crown
of the hat.

Students
were given 25cents to purchase supplies
from the class store to decorate their
hats. Students drafted a shopping list and
then took it to the store to purchase hat
decorating supplies.

Shopping!
Staying within a budget takes planning -
and it is not always fun to have to make
choices. Great economics lessons
learned.
Now it is
time to decorate!

Students
worked hard to decorate their special
hats.

Wow! All
of those math and economics lessons
produced some pretty great results. Those
hats look terrific!

We are proud
of our hard work!

We are proud
of our creativity!

We are proud
of a job well done!

And
throughout it all, we read lots of good
books about hats.

Math,
Economics, Reading . . .
HATS OFF to
having fun while learning!
